Tooth whitening can brighten stained or discoloured teeth to give you a more dazzling smile. Although there are many teeth whitening products on the market we strongly advise that treatment is carried out under the supervision of a dentist, as many of the products are either ineffective or potentially harmful because they contain acids and abrasives that can cause permanent damage.

Before treatment we thoroughly check your teeth and gums to ensure they are healthy and that your discoloration is suitable for treatment. Teeth tend to darken as we age and they can also pick up surface staining from food and drink, such as tea, coffee, red wine and curries. Smoking can also cause discolouration, as can certain medication and illnesses.

Tooth Whitening helps to ‘unlock pores’ in your teeth so that stains are gently removed, leaving teeth cleaner and brighter. Treatment should last for eighteen months to three years but can last as long as seven years especially if you cut down on tea, coffee and red wine and don’t smoke.
